Alice Cockfield (Pearl's Mother) Natchitoches, Louisiana

Here is a cabinet card of Pearl's mother, Alice Cockfield, wife of William Cockfield. She mothered about ten children that lived past infancy, including Pearl and a her older brother, Bonito, whose picture I will post tomorrow. I can find no information on the photographer, Robertshaw.

If you know who this may be, let us know in the comments!

  1. It almost looks as if she is holding a child in this photo..off to the right..strange..perhaps the child moved too much and was blurry and was cropped out:)

  2. I just found your blog, thanks to a mention by Far Side on her blog, Forgotten Old Photos. I keep telling her I wish I could find a photo blog like hers that rescued old photos from the South so that maybe I'd stumble upon pictures of my own relatives. Looks like she found that blog for me here! I look forward to following you--are you planning on adding a "Join this site" button (from Google Friend Connect)?

Another suggestion: do you know about GeneaBloggers? That blog has a search and referral feature that you can sign up for. You can add your blog info to their list by clicking here. That will help you get the word out about your blog to others who will certainly be interested.
